Deep, deep in the northern wilderness
I was enjoying the good kind of loneliness
I've been waking up beneath an azure blue sky
From the song of some chaffinches nearby
The bright sun shines in the dancing leaves so green
This forest must be the most beautiful sight I've seen
The gentle roar of the rivers, a nature lovers psalm
And my favorite lake, so beautiful and calm
If it would only hide the reflection of my face
This could have been my ideal place
But the mountains won't hold back my sadness much longer
Even a tough man could wish he had been stronger
The birds sang for me today in a way as if they knew
That when I gazed at the sky my thoughts were just as blue
Underneath a summer night sky of both sun and the moon
Now only the sad song of a lonely black-throated loon
And deep, deep inside a northern forest
Down under the surface of my lake dearest
Mother earth my pain forever will erase
And my tired body forever embrace
The birds sang for me today in a way as if they knew
That when I gazed at the sky my thoughts were just as blue
Underneath a summer night sky of both sun and the moon
Now only the sad song of a lonely black-throated loon
And deep, deep inside a northern forest
Down under the surface of my lake dearest
Mother earth my pain forever will erase
And my tired body forever embrace
